Millions of counterfeit masks have been seized by U.S. Customs
February 4, 2021
Agents at U.S. Custom facilities have seized nearly 13 million counterfeit face masks, 177,000 COVID-19 test kits and 38,000 chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine tablets banned by the Food and Drug Administration as of Sept. 30 of last year. Nearly half of the confiscated items came from China. “What we are seeing is, no big surprise, a lot of counterfeits rolling through those supply chains,” said Brenda Smith, head of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Trade.
