September 7, 2021

Advocacy groups are filing class action lawsuits against big food companies as a result of what they say is an increase in deceptive labeling practices. “We don’t believe that companies should be able to profit from deceiving consumers about their practices,” said Jay Shooster, a lawyer at Richman Law & Policy, that has filed several suits. “Even if we can’t sue Tyson for abusing their chickens, at least we can sue them for misleading about how their chickens are treated.” Tyson advertises its chickens as being “all natural” when plaintiffs claim they are crowded together in antibiotic-resistant environments and doused with disinfectants.
