This Is the Most Expensive Place To Ring in New Year’s Eve in Times Square

December 31, 2024

Heading out on New Year’s Eve is usually quite pricy. Add in the cost of a dinner and drinks, maybe a club or seated restaurant, and a customer could pay hundreds of dollars. However, that’s nothing compared to the most expensive place to spend New Year’s Eve and ring in the new year in the heart of Times Square.

Revelers who choose to party in New York City find themselves with sticker shock at the cost of a New Year’s Eve night out. However, one location right in the heart of the party could cost five figures for just two to celebrate.

The Marriott Marquis is located just steps away from where the 12-foot, 11,875-pound crystal ball will descend from atop One Times Square, signaling the start of yet another new year. It’s also the location for the most expensive place to ring in New Year’s Eve 2025.

The hotel offers prime VIP seating with eighth-floor terrace access, a ball-drop view, a buffet, desserts, and a five-hour open bar. The price? A whopping $7,500 per person. The VIP couple’s package, at $15,000, is already sold out. Formal attire is required.

The New York Post spoke to Joshua Perla, founder of NYE events producers Ball Drop and NewYears.com. “We are seeing higher demand, year over year, of 3% to 5% for premium tickets that include a live view of the ball drop. Our goal is to have a live-view event for all price points. This year we were able to range prices from $399 per person up to $7,500 per person at Marriott,” Perla explained. “This is a bucket list item on someone’s wish list, and we want to be the New Year’s concierge for all revelers.”

Are There Other, Not-So-Pricey Ways To Spend New Year’s Eve in New York City?

There are other events celebrating the start of 2025 that are occurring right in the Times Square area. They too will run upwards of almost $2,000 per person.

Just down the block from the Marriot Marquis is Bar 54 at the Hyatt Centric (135 W. 45th St.), where two VIP packages can cost upwards of $6,500 or $7,500 in total, though the event is already sold out. The R Lounge at the Renaissance Hotel is selling tickets to its VIP New Year’s Eve Gala starting at around $1,850 per person.

However, if these options are too rich for your blood, there’s always Applebees. Unfortunately, however, it’s not as inexpensive as one may believe.

Diners can dish out more than $700 to ring in 2025 at Applebee’s, which includes an open bar, dinner buffet, live DJ, and champagne toast at midnight. However, to watch the events right in Times Square, revelers will have to pony up upwards of $729 per person for a party of eight, with prices rising as the group grows smaller. There’s also a private couple’s package for $2,299.

The least expensive way to watch the ball drop is likely sitting at home in pajamas, toasting the new year surrounded by family and friends while watching the New York revelers on television.
