National Taco Day Is October 1. Here’s Our Freebie & Discount Deal Roundup
October 1, 2024
National Taco Day is Tuesday, Oct. 1, and taco joints all over the country have a variety of freebies and discount deals in celebration of the latest foodie holiday. Let’s take a look at just a few of the many places that are offering both freebies and discounts.
Deals From Taco Cabana, Taco Bell, and More
Taco Cabana is excited to offer deals across all its Texas locations on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2024. All day long, Taco Cabana will serve up delectable food at a discounted price; there is no cap and no need for coupons. The discounts are available for drive-thru and dine-in customers as well as online at olo.tacocabana.com and the MY TC! app.
Taco Cabana is offering a variety of customer favorites as specials for National Taco Day. These consist of $2 Ground Beef Tacos, $2 Shredded Chicken Tacos, and $1 Bean & Cheese Tacos. On Friday, Oct. 4, Taco Cabana will also be running an exclusive promotion: buy one, get one free on any of its tacos. This offer is only good that day and can only be used once per customer.
Meanwhile, on Oct. 1, Taco Bell is hosting a daylong celebration, with hourly drops of $1 tacos. Taco Bell Rewards members can redeem a coupon for a Crunchy Taco for $1 starting at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT. For an hour, 10,000 Crunchy Tacos are redeemable. At the top of every hour until 10 p.m. ET/7 p.m. PT, there will be 10,000 more discounts for an additional dish, including the Chalupa Supreme, the Cantina Chicken Soft Taco, and the Cheesy Gordita Crunch.
As “the creators and longstanding champions of Taco Tuesday,” Taco John’s is contributing to the celebration of National Taco Day by providing complimentary Beef Stuffed Grilled Tacos to Bigger Bolder Rewards loyalty program members with any purchase on Tuesday, Oct. 1, according to USA Today. Then, starting on Oct. 2, Taco John’s will provide exclusive incentives to reward members every Wednesday in October.
Even chicken chains are getting in on the National Taco Day fun. Starting on Tuesday and running through Friday, Oct. 4, members of El Pollo Loco’s Loco Rewards loyalty program may purchase any three fire-grilled chicken tacos for $5 at restaurants, via the app, or online. For those who prefer to celebrate at home on Tuesday, all orders will ship for free.
National Taco Day Will Always Fall on ‘Taco Tuesday’
The most recent iteration of Taco Bell’s Taco Tuesday promotion moves National Taco Day from its customary Oct. 4 date to Oct. 1. From now on, the event will always take place on the first Tuesday in October, thanks to a guarantee made by the business.
It was said in a Taco Bell news release that National Taco Day was observed on Oct. 4 every year, so it was unusual for the foodie holiday and Taco Tuesday to fall on the same day. Taco Bell has therefore collaborated with the National Day Calendar to shift the date of National Taco Day to always fall on Tuesdays.
Marlo Anderson, founder of National Day Calendar, stated, “For years, we’ve celebrated National Taco Day on October 4th, but it’s always felt like there was a bigger opportunity to align it with something even more special — Taco Tuesday. Thanks to Taco Bell’s efforts, we’re excited to officially move National Taco Day to the first Tuesday in October, creating the Taco Tuesday of all Taco Tuesdays. National Day Calendar has always thrived on the grassroots support of people who love celebrating these moments, and this change is a perfect example of that. It’s more than just moving a date — it’s about bringing taco lovers together in a bigger way, and we couldn’t be more excited!”
