On Cliff-Edge, Consumer Confidence Plummets

Similar to a dive experienced a year and a half ago when talks regarding the debt ceiling were in the news, the Conference Board's consumer confidence index fell to 66.5 in December from 80.9 last month largely due to the "fiscal cliff" impasse.
