Oracle Launches AI Agents for Sales Teams

AI agents have become a hot topic over the past year. Numerous developers, including OpenAI and Google, are currently racing to introduce the latest and greatest virtual assistant. Tech firm Oracle has just announced its AI agent, which is specifically tasked with helping salespeople.

While many AI agents can handle various repetitive and difficult assignments, Oracle’s assistant is designed to tackle very specific tasks. Updating company records and writing reports in a different language for the sales team are jobs Oracle’s AI agent could accomplish.

“Our customers are oftentimes brands you may not have heard of that run industry. They move rock and produce machinery. They’re usually global,” said Rob Pinkerton, a senior vice president at Oracle, per Reuters. “To have that assistance to pull (data) all together in all the languages a seller has to care about is pretty useful.”

Oracle’s AI agent is free for customers and should be available as of now.

The Rise of Agentic AI

Once called “the third wave of the AI revolution” by Marc Benioff, agentic AI can act independently, making decisions and taking action without human direction. These agents can adapt to changing conditions in real time instead of following set rules.

AI agents don’t just spit out content; they act with purpose on behalf of a user. Experts believe artificial general intelligence (AGI), essentially robots smarter than humans, is no longer science fiction but well within reach.

“We are now confident we know how to build AGI as we have traditionally understood it,” wrote OpenAI CEO Sam Altman earlier this month. “We believe that, in 2025, we may see the first AI agents ‘join the workforce’ and materially change the output of companies.”

Agentic AI is already lurking beneath the circuits of major industries. Banks use AI agents to detect fraud and automate trading. The tech keeps track of inventory and updates delivery routes for logistics companies. AI is helping patients schedule doctor’s appointments and refill medications.

Microsoft recently integrated Copilot AI into its 365 suite of office apps, while OpenAI just announced a Tasks feature for ChatGPT, which can handle reminders and other ongoing assignments.

In the past few years, AI has reshaped how we interact with the world. Just like television, the PC, and the internet, agentic AI is technology that will not only be fully entrenched in our everyday activities but will also be something we won’t live without.
