Coca-Cola and OREO Team Up in a Limited-Edition ‘Besties’ Flavor

August 19, 2024

The Coca-Cola brand and OREO cookies are teaming up to create a limited-edition “besties” flavor.

In a press release by the soft drink giant, the two iconic food items are teaming up to offer fans unique flavor experiences that celebrate the “Real Magic” of friendship. “A pair of limited-time-only products — Coca‑Cola OREO Zero Sugar and OREO Coca‑Cola Sandwich Cookie — leverage the brands’ signature tastes and iconography to deliver playfully unexpected innovations,” the press release states.

“Both sport a sleek, black-and-white packaging design that remains true to the two brands’ iconic personalities while embracing creative elements like OREO cookie embossments and stacked Coca‑Cola bottles,” the company statement continues. “The exclusive offerings are the latest surprise-and-delight drops from the global Coca‑Cola Creations platform, which lends the iconic Coca‑Cola brand to new creative expressions, unexpected flavors and immersive experiences anchored in the core Gen Z passions of music, gaming, sports, technology and pop culture.”

So, what will this unique pairing taste like? Reportedly, the OREO sandwich cookie will have the signature hard cookie outside that tastes like Coca-Cola. The creamy white filling will be studded with red edible glitter. As for the drink, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar will contain the refreshing cola taste its fans expect with hints of Oreo flavoring throughout.

“We took careful steps to ensure we delivered the OREO experience in a Coca‑Cola, and vice versa,” said Oana Vlad, global VP of brand strategy at The Coca‑Cola Company. “Both products went through several iterations, and we look forward to following the public conversation of what each tastes like. At the end of [the] day, our mutual commitment to product quality and technical excellence — and our willingness to have fun and work together as one team — made this possible.”

The press release also explained that this launch is the “largest Coca‑Cola Creations partnership, by far.” The products will be available in stores beginning in September in 35 markets across the globe, including the United States, Canada, China, Mexico, and Brazil. A frozen version of Coca-Cola Zero will also be available at 7-Eleven stores in select markets.
