Panera Has 5 New Bakery Items for Customers. Here’s What We Know About Them

August 23, 2024

Panera has announced that it is launching five new bakery items, along with three new croissant sandwiches, on its menu. The casual dining chain has been revamping its menu in recent months in a bid to attract more customers. Let’s take a look at what’s now available on the menu.

Panera’s New Offerings

press release announcement revealed that with the introduction of five new baked goods and three brand-new croissant breakfast sandwiches, Panera is offering even more taste and diversity to menus around the country. These additions are ideal for breakfast or as a sweet treat at any time of day because they combine well-liked flavors with creative takes on old favorites.

These delicious new treats are part of a special “Swicy” deal that Panera is providing with the recently launched Spicy Fiesta Chicken Sandwich. At participating local bakery-cafés, customers who savor the irresistible blend of sweet and spicy can get 50% off a baked good when they buy a Spicy Fiesta Chicken Sandwich and a beverage.

The new bakery items include:

  • The Almond Pastry is a buttery, flaky pastry covered with sliced almonds and sweet almond filling. It is drizzled with icing by hand.
  • The Cherry Pastry is a buttery, flaky pastry with a tart cherry filling and a drizzle of icing.
  • The Cranberry Orange Slice is a luscious cake with whole cranberries and a sweet taste of orange, enriched with sour cream and dusted with coarse sugar.
  • The delectable Coconut Macaroon biscuit is now available in a chocolaty dip.
  • A rich Chocolate Coconut Macaroon cookie topped with a chocolaty dip is also available.

The new sandwich offerings include:

  • Croissant Bacon, Egg, & Cheese: Meltable aged white cheddar, scrambled egg, and applewood-smoked bacon on a croissant.
  • Croissant Sausage, Egg, & Cheese: Melted aged white cheddar, crispy sausage, and scrambled egg on a croissant.
  • Croissant Egg & Cheese: Scrambled egg and melted aged white cheddar on a croissant.

“We are continuing to transform our menu in line with guest preferences and are excited to offer even more delicious reasons to visit Panera. We are thrilled to bring these new croissant sandwiches to our breakfast menus nationwide, along with an expanded selection of delicious bakery treats,” said Alicia Mowder, SVP of product strategy & insights at Panera Bread, in a statement accompanying the press release. “Our guests visit Panera for the sweet, the spicy and even the ‘swicy’, and our goal is to provide a wider range of options, flavors and variety to satisfy any craving.”

Driving Customers

News of Panera’s new offerings comes hot on the heels of the casual dining chain’s announcement back in March that it would be readjusting its menu to attract more customers.

Panera announced that the 2019 flatbreads will no longer be available. Mowder described these adjustments as a return to the company’s basic values, with a focus on client happiness.

“We are getting back to Panera at its best with these menu updates that are centered completely on our guests and what they love about us,” she said in a press release. “We’ve listened to thousands of guests on our path to unveiling more than 20 new or enhanced menu items and are thrilled to bring these products to Panera bakery-cafes nationwide.”

This menu revamp differs from the trial run that occurred the previous year, when a sizable number of menu items were eliminated. But Panera will still serve well-liked staples like the kids’ menu and kitchen sink cookie.

The “Toasted Italiano,” “Chicken Bacon Rancher,” and an inexpensive mac and cheese with bacon on top were some of the recent additions.
