Penney asking landlords for rent deals as it reopens stores

J.C. Penney has asked all its landlords to defer or reduce its rent payments through August as the department store chain goes through the Chapter 11 reorganization process. Penney plans to have around 500 of its stores, about 60 percent of its total, open by next Wednesday.
