Alliance Entertainment Announces Highest Physical Vinyl Album Sales for Record Store Day Event

Alliance Entertainment Holding Corporation

Alliance Entertainment has announced that independent retailers’ feedback confirms this year’s Record Store Day event as the largest ever, with vinyl album sales surpassing 43 million units in 2022. The event brings together fans, artists and independent record stores from around the world to celebrate the culture of independent record stores.

As a major supporter of independent record stores in the US, Alliance Entertainment works closely with Record Store Day and the industry’s distribution and label partners to promote and distribute Record Store Day titles ahead of the event.

This year’s event saw more than 800,000 units of vinyl created and shipped to independent record stores across the country, with retail sales expected to exceed $32m.

Record Store Day’s co-founder Michael Kurtz added that Taylor Swift’s ‘folklore: the long pond sessions’ Record Store Day release could produce their first chart-topping album, with sales expected to break the record for most vinyl sold in a single day.
