In its fifth annual Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Report, Rite Aid detailed its progress over the past year, showcasing continuous advancements in its four key pillars: Thriving Planet, Thriving Business, Thriving Workplace, and Thriving Community.

Among the achievements in the Thriving Planet initiative, Rite Aid reported an increase in renewable energy use, the diversion of 38,000 tons of recyclables from landfills, and a nearly 17% rise in stores fitted with energy-saving LED lights.

Under the Thriving Business pillar, the company focused on embedding sustainability within its supply chain, with efforts such as integrating sustainability into procurement processes and collaboration with own-brand suppliers to reduce harmful chemicals in products.

The Thriving Workplace initiative saw improved employee benefits, a 12% increase in professional development tools usage, and the introduction of leadership development programs to foster diverse talent.

Finally, within the Thriving Community initiative, Rite Aid demonstrated a commitment to improving health equity and access to care by executing 724 health clinics in underserved areas and increasing pharmacist participation in Medication Therapy Management programs. The company’s efforts align with eight of the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, marking a significant stride toward global sustainability.
