Walgreens Boots Alliance, Inc. has announced that Rosalind Brewer will step down as the company’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and as a member of the Board, effective August 31, 2023. The Board has appointed Ginger Graham, the current Lead Independent Director, as the interim CEO while a search for a permanent CEO is conducted. Stefano Pessina, Executive Chairman of WBA, expressed gratitude for Brewer’s leadership during the global pandemic and her contributions to the company. Brewer, who became CEO in March 2021, led initiatives such as the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines and a strategic pivot towards healthcare growth. The Board is working with an executive search firm to identify a new CEO. Ginger Graham, with her leadership experience in the healthcare industry, has been named as the interim CEO. The company expects its full-year 2023 adjusted earnings per share to be at or near the low end of its previously stated range.
