Retail sales paint a mixed picture

If you take out gas, retail sales improved 0.3 percent in February. Economists expected a 0.2 percent increase. On the negative side of the ledger, retail sales in January were revised to a decline of 0.4 percent instead of the 0.2 percent increase that had been previously reported.
