Returns getting bad rep for environmental impact

As online retailers like Amazon work to make returns cheaper (often free) and easier for shoppers, the process is being heavily scrutinized for the effects it has on the environment. The millions of packages sent back to retailers and brands each year must be transported by vehicles that produce carbon emissions and often repackaging and reselling returned items is so costly that they wind up in landfills.
