Ryanair 'Flight From Hell' Erupts in Brawl, Forces Emergency Landing

A Ryanair flight dubbed the "flight from hell" is making headlines after it was forced to make an emergency landing just 36 minutes into the flight following a multi-passenger brawl.

The New York Post is reporting that the fight happened on a flight from Morocco to London on Wednesday, July 3. A man asked a woman if he could trade seats with her so he could sit with his wife and children. When the woman refused, the man allegedly began threatening her.

Despite the brewing tensions, the Ryanair flight took off. When the flight reached 30,000 feet, the man took off his seat belt and approached the woman, which prompted the woman's husband to come to her defense. That's when the fight broke out.

“They were trying to punch each other,” an anonymous 36-year-old passenger said. “One of the families was part of a larger group, so other passengers started to join in. Then a lady in the row behind started to have a panic attack because of everything going on. She was screaming and there were kids crying. It was like a snowball effect.”

The passenger called the Ryanair flight the "flight from hell."

The plane was only in the air for 36 minutes before it was forced to make an emergency landing in Marrakech, Morocco, where nine people were removed from the plane and detained.

But the drama didn't stop there. Allegedly, a man fell ill during the in-air fight and refused to get off the plane, despite being deemed unfit to fly, and became abusive toward the cabin crew. Police had to then board the flight again to remove the unruly passenger.

All of the chaos resulted in Ryanair reaching its maximum allotted flight time, forcing the passengers to stay in Marrakech overnight. The morning flight was also canceled, resulting in the passengers not reaching their final destination until Thursday, July 4, late in the evening.

Ryanair isn't the only airline going through its fair share of drama.

Over in the United States, Delta Air Lines is facing a huge backlash after a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit — which, incidentally, left on the same day as the doomed Ryanair flight — was diverted to JFK International Airport after passengers discovered "spoiled, moldy food" being served on the flight.

The number of passengers that were served the tainted food prior to the flight being diverted to JFK is unknown, though. The New York Post was informed by sources that after consuming food smeared with black bold, at least 24 people fell ill. Air traffic controllers informed Delta that the meal caused 70 illnesses, of which 24 were treated for symptoms; no one was admitted to the hospital.
