Salt Life Clothing Stores To Shutter

September 26, 2024

All Salt Life clothing stores will close. Hilco Consumer-Retail Group, one of the brand’s new owners, announced on Sept. 24 that it will close all 28 retail locations.

Hilco and Iconix International jointly purchased the Salt Life apparel line after the previous owner, Delta Apparel Inc., filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June. A press release states, “Hilco will support Iconix in transitioning the Salt Life brand towards a stronger focus on wholesale and e-commerce business model. The Salt Life brand has widespread brand awareness and loyalty with ocean enthusiasts worldwide..”

Thus, over the next several months, Salt Life’s retail locations will close, and the company’s distribution centers will be sold. Liquidation sales began on Sept. 20, 2024. A total of 28 stores will shutter.

How Will Salt Life Liquidate Its Products?

“Savings of up to 40% are being offered on Salt Life favorites including tees, shorts, performance clothing, hoodies, tumblers and so much more. Customers are encouraged to take advantage of these significant savings immediately while selections are best,” the press release states.

Salt Life gift cards will be accepted for the first 30 days of the sale. They will stop being accepted on Oct. 20, 2024. Returns for merchandise purchased before Sept. 20, 2024, will also be accepted for the first 30 days of the sale. All sales made on or after Sept. 20 are final. All Salt Life stores will also sell their fixtures and equipment to interested parties.

The Salt Life brand was founded in 2003 in Jacksonville Beach, Florida. The brand personifies all things related to the ocean and water sports. The company is committed to ocean conservation via its “Gives Back” initiative, which supports efforts to protect marine environments.

The Salt Life Food Shack restaurant chain remains separate from the Salt Life lifestyle brand, according to FOX Business. This does not affect the operation or ownership of the restaurant locations.
