Senate Passes Credit Card Bill

The U.S. Senate voted by a 90 to five margin to pass a bill intended to protect consumers against abuses by credit card companies. The banking industry claims the bill will further limit access to credit and result in higher costs for consumers. The bill did not address interchange fees, which are being studied by the Government Accountability Office.
