ShopRite’s New Campaign Spotlights Local Owners and Shoppers
April 7, 2025
ShopRite is celebrating the customers who make up its family and community with a new “We Are Here” marketing campaign. According to a press release, the campaign shines a spotlight on the family-operated businesses at the core of the brand, emphasizing its strong community roots and long-standing commitment to the neighborhoods it serves.
The campaign will roll out across TV, radio, digital, print, social media, and in-store displays. It will feature a montage of images and stories that tell the stories of how each store has impacted its shoppers.
“We Are Here” will highlight local ShopRite owners and operators who are part of the Wakefern cooperative, capturing the essence of the company’s community-driven spirit. Scenes of the brand’s growth, local events, food drives, and more will be woven together like a photo album, celebrating both the people behind the stores and the communities they proudly serve.
“It’s the story of our ShopRite brand – which has always been about families serving families,” said Darren Caudill, chief sales officer at Wakefern Food Corp., the New Jersey-based and retailer-owned supermarket cooperative. “When customers see the ads on television or hear them on the radio, we hope they recognize the unwavering commitment of our cooperative members to the people who shop in our stores and live in the communities where our stores operate.”
ShopRite Continues Its Commitment to the Communities It Serves
ShopRite originated in 1946 when a group of independent grocers in Newark, New Jersey, came together to form a cooperative in response to rising costs and competition from larger supermarkets. This collaboration gave birth to Wakefern Food Corp., the largest retailer-owned cooperative in the United States.
Over the decades, ShopRite has grown to include more than 270 stores across six states: New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Connecticut, Delaware, and Maryland. Despite its growth, the company remains committed to its roots. Most locations are still family-owned and operated by members of the Wakefern cooperative.
ShopRite stores are deeply embedded in the communities they serve. From supporting local food banks and organizing annual food drives to sponsoring school programs and hosting community events, the brand’s community reach goes beyond groceries. Its commitment to giving back and staying connected to its neighborhoods remains a cornerstone of its identity.
