Smashburger Debuts 2 Shakes That Are Crave-Worthy New Classics

April 24, 2025

Smashburger is shaking up its menu with the launch of two crave-worthy new shake flavors, adding a fresh twist to its lineup of fan favorites. These delicious additions are part of the brand’s ongoing commitment to delight guests and keep them returning for more.

The chain restaurant has added two new shakes to its menu: the Banana Shake and the Banana Chocolatey Chip Shake, per a press release. Both are made with Häagen-Dazs vanilla ice cream and real banana purée. The Banana Chocolatey Chip Shake also includes Denali chocolate chips blended into the shake and sprinkled on top. Both shakes are finished with a whipped cream topping, offering a rich and satisfying treat for dessert lovers.

“At Smashburger, we love to bring bold flavor and a touch of nostalgia to the table, and our new Banana and Banana Chocolatey Chip Shakes do just that,” said Tom Ryan, the eatery’s founder. “The rich banana flavor mixed with chocolatey chips that melt into every sip makes these shakes fun, refreshing, and the perfect way to sip into summer.”

Each of these indulgent new shakes is available to purchase in stores, via the Smashburger app, or at Smashburger.com for a limited time. Customers can also enroll in the chain’s SmashRewards, where they can enjoy eatery-exclusive offers and customer perks.

Smashburger’s shake lineup has a devoted fan following. Regular menu items include Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Oreo Cookies & Cream, Peanut Butter Cookie, and Salted Caramel.

Smashburger’s Menu Additions Continue To Create Buzz

Smashburger continues to elevate its burger game with the addition of even more crave-worthy menu items. In early April, the restaurant added a limited-run Jalapeño BBQ Bacon Stack Smash burger to its menu. This sandwich features crispy applewood-smoked bacon, fresh-sliced jalapeños, sweet and smoky BBQ sauce, and American cheese, all layered on an Angus Beef patty.

Jim Sullivan, company president, said of the fiery menu item, “At Smashburger, we know our guests appreciate big, satisfying flavors, and the new Jalapeño BBQ Bacon Stack is a celebration of their top picks. By bringing together the best elements of our Bacon Stack Smash, Spicy Jalapeño Smash, and BBQ Bacon Smash, we’ve created something bold, indulgent, and uniquely Smashburger.”

At the heart of the eatery’s appeal is its unique cooking method: Each burger patty is pressed onto a hot grill, creating a caramelized sear that enhances flavor. The cooking technique is called the Maillard reaction. This browning occurs when amino acids and sugars present in the patty react at high temperatures, causing them to brown and develop a crispy exterior.

“We spent a year getting that right,” founder Rick Schaden told FOX Business in 2016. He explained that the company “tried all kinds of grills and all kinds of mixtures” before settling on the right recipe and creating a patented burger smashing tool.

“We had confidence in what we were selling,” said co-founder Tom Ryan.

Moving forward, the burger chain continues to evolve with creative menu offerings and a dedication to customer excellence. “We envision Smashburger continuing to grow as a leading brand in the fast-casual space, with an expanded footprint both domestically and internationally,” said Thomas Prather, Smashburger’s chief marketing officer, to Food Chain Magazine. “Our focus will remain on delivering innovative menu offerings while upholding the exceptional quality and service that define our brand.”
