Smithsonian Declares Michael Cullen Originator of the Supermarket

With funding from H.J. Heinz & Co. and FMI, the Smithsonian Institute has settled the debate over whether it was Michael Cullen, father of King Kullen, or Piggly Wiggly founder Clarence Saunders who first came up with the supermarket concept.
