Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Have Worked Together for Decades. Now, They’re Moving Into the Retail Space

October 19, 2024

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre are known for their musical collaborations. Now, however, they’re moving into the retail space, and they are not the only celebrities to do so. Let’s take a look at their latest non-musical collaboration.

Snoop Dogg & Dr. Dre Move to Retail With Still G.I.N.

A press release revealed that on Oct. 15, Dr. Dre and Snoop Dogg announced the national release of Still G.I.N. By Dre and Snoop, an ultra-premium gin. This highly anticipated second product follows the global success of the brand’s first release in February, the critically acclaimed canned cocktail Gin & Juice By Dre and Snoop. This marks the award-winning beverage brand’s first entry into the pure premium spirit space.

Still G.I.N. by Dre and Snoop draws inspiration from one of the duo’s other classic collaborations, the timeless hit “Still D.R.E.” from Dr. Dre’s groundbreaking multi-platinum album “2001,” just like Gin & Juice pays homage to Snoop Dogg’s smash hit song “Gin and Juice,” which was produced by Dr. Dre.

“Every day in the studio when Dre and I were trying to make the dopest music, we were drinking gin and just having fun,” Snoop Dogg said in a statement accompanying the press release. “We’ve been a part of the evolution of this gin — from the creation of the flavor, to the percentage of alcohol that’s in it — and it’s just so good! Dre’s a perfectionist: he wants to make sure it’s not just good, but great. Together, we ain’t gonna do nothing regular!”

“This is not a liquor that we’re just putting our name on,” Dr. Dre added. “It’s just like we did with Beats headphones. Everything is us from the ground up: the gin, the flavor, the packaging… Everything had to be perfect. Snoop said it best: we’re better together — it’s always magical. It’s incredible to know that you’ve got something amazing that you feel is gonna really work. From the look to the taste, it’s all there.”

Dolly Parton Moved Into the Retail Space, Too

Snoop Dogg isn’t the only celebrity who has moved into the retail space. On the country music front, Dolly Parton has done the same thing. Over the years, she has come out with a food line, a wine brand, and most recently a cosmetics line called Dolly Beauty, which she launched in August.

Parton also recently teamed up with Sam’s Club & Walmart to commit to Hurricane Helene relief efforts. A press release from the corporation stated that the relationship was formed to assist those impacted by the terrible environmental calamity.

Walmart, Sam’s Club, and the Walmart Foundation contributed $6 million at first, but they increased their amount to $10 million. This funding will support relief operations in Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina, Tennessee, and other areas affected by Hurricane Helene. Meanwhile, Parton donated $1 million to the Mountain Ways Foundation, and her businesses in East Tennessee, including Dollywood Parks & Resorts, Dolly Parton’s Stampede, and Pirates Voyage Dinner & Show, combined their efforts to match the donation and contribute another $1 million.

John Furner, president and CEO of Walmart U.S., said, “These aren’t just places where we have stores. These are communities where we work and live, and our hearts are broken for our friends and neighbors. This is one of the most widespread and destructive storms I’ve seen in my 31 years with Walmart. But I’ve also seen over 31 years that Walmart associates always step up when needed. It’s who we are and who we will continue to be. We’ll support people and communities until they’ve recovered.”
