Some restaurants are now adding $10,000 tiny stools for luxury handbags
July 12, 2023
Middle-tier restaurants in the U.S. and Europe are embracing the trend of adding luxury handbag stools for diners to place their expensive designer bags on. This practice, traditionally seen in fine-dining establishments, has now expanded to more casual restaurants as young adults, living with their parents and with disposable income, prioritize spending on luxury goods over rent and bills. Examples include Parisian restaurant Le Dalíin Le Meurice, which showcases Hermés Pippa Stools priced at $9,150, and Rare Steakhouse at Encore Boston Harbor, which provides small padded chairs for bags. However, as smaller purses gain popularity and younger generations opt for practical bags like fanny packs, the trend may not be long-lasting.
