Spirit Airlines Announces New Premium Bag and Seating Bundles

July 31, 2024

Budget-friendly Spirit Airlines has made some big changes to its bag and seating policies with new premium fare bundles. It promises different travel options and a transformed guest experience that will put it on par with other airlines while still delivering affordability to travelers.

Spirit’s press site reports the company will offer travelers an option to select a premium experience at the same lower price fans of the airline have grown to love. The four new travel options include: Go Big, Go Comfy, Go Savvy, and Go. All four options include the flexibility of no change or cancellation fees.

Go Big includes a bigger front seat, snacks and drinks (including alcoholic beverages), one carry-on bag, one checked bag, priority check-in and boarding, and streaming access. The front seat is wider with extra legroom and no middle seat.

Go Comfy includes a guaranteed blocked middle seat, one carry-on bag, one checked bag, priority boarding, and a snack and non-alcoholic beverage. Go Savvy provides the choice of either one carry-on bag or one checked bag and standard seat selection during booking, and Go allows customers to purchase options such as checked bags, standard seat selection, Wi-Fi, and snacks and beverages.

The airline is also providing no change or cancellation fees for all guests, increasing checked bag weight allowance up to 50 pounds, and extending future travel voucher expiration to 12 months (for vouchers issued on or after June 3, 2024).

These changes end Spirit Airlines’ former bare-bones model, where customers pay base fares and then add on extra-fee items like checked bags and seat selection. Spirit will begin offering new travel options for booking on Aug. 16 and launch the newly transformed Guest experience by Aug. 27, 2024.

“We’re unveiling a new era in Spirit’s history and taking low-fare travel to new heights with enhanced options that are unlike anything we’ve ever offered before,” said Spirit’s president and CEO, Ted Christie, in a statement shared with Travel + Leisure. “We listened to our guests and are excited to deliver what they want: choices for an elevated experience that are affordable and provide unparalleled value.”
