Stanley Recalls 2.6M Travel Mugs Over Burn Concerns
December 13, 2024
Stanley has recalled 2.6 million travel mugs over customer burn concerns. The Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs sold in the U.S. are part of the recall. The mug’s lid threads can shrink when exposed to heat and torque, which may cause the lid to detach during use and pose a burn hazard.
The United States Consumer Product Safety Commission reported, “This recall involves all Stanley Switchback and Trigger Action stainless steel travel mugs sold in the United States. The recalled double-walled mugs were sold in a variety of colors, including white, black and green, in 12 oz., 16 oz. and 20 oz. sizes with a polypropylene lid.”
The statement also explained that the Stanley logo is on the front and bottom of the mugs, and the product identification numbers also appear on the bottom.
For the Switchback mug, the 12-oz. mug has a product identification number of 20-01437, while the 16-oz. version’s numbers are listed as 20-01436 and 20-02211.
The recalled Trigger Action mug comes in three sizes. The 12 oz. has the product identification numbers of 20-02033, 20-02779, and 20-02825. The 16 oz.’s numbers are 20-02030, 20-02745, and 20-02957. Finally, the 20 oz. ID numbers are 20-02034 and 20-02746.
