Staples and Office Depot in merger talks

Once upon a time, Staples, Office Depot and OfficeMax operated independently. Then, Office Depot and OfficeMax merged. Now, it appears as though all three office supplies chains will become one if talks between Office Depot and Staples leads to yet another merger.
