Starbucks abandons plan to sell liquor in Utah

Starbucks had worked out a “conditional license” to sell beer and wine in its Utah stores for one year, pending formal approval by the state liquor board, but has decided not to pursue a long-term license, inferring that the state’s “unique” requirements would be too hard to manage. Utah liquor licenses require retailers to install “Zion Curtains”Β to shield customers from viewing drink preparation, among other unusual operational guidelines.
