Starbucks Introduces New Blackberry Sage Refreshers & Valentine’s Day Beverages
February 6, 2025
Starbucks has unveiled an all-new drinks menu that includes Blackberry Sage refreshers and Valentine’s Day beverages.
In a press release announcement, the coffee chain revealed that winter inspired the new Blackberry Sage Refresher, Blackberry Sage Lemonade Refresher, and Midnight Drink beverages, which are all available for a limited time in Starbucks stores across the United States and Canada as of Feb. 4.
“During the winter months, we found that customers want something refreshing, yet balanced,” said Billy Altieri, lead beverage developer for Starbucks. “Imagine you’re walking through a garden you’re smelling fresh herbs and then berries. That’s really what you’re getting with this beverage — a balance of subtle notes of sage and sweet blackberry flavors.”
Some refreshing beverages, such as Strawberry Açaí and Mango Dragonfruit, combine familiar ingredients with exotic fruits. This is the first Refreshers beverage to combine a berry flavor and a herb, a prevalent trend in cocktails and mocktails.
Meanwhile, the Valentine’s Day offerings, also available since Feb. 4 for a limited time, are just as intriguing.
The Chocolate-Covered Strawberry Crème Frappuccino combines strawberry puree, Frappuccino chips, milk, and ice, creating a rich and creamy blend. It’s layered over strawberry puree and topped with whipped cream and a mocha drizzle for a decadent finish.
The Chocolate Hazelnut Cookie Cold Brew starts with smooth Cold Brew coffee sweetened with vanilla syrup, then topped with a luscious chocolate hazelnut cream cold foam and a sprinkle of chocolate cookie crumble.
For a festive touch, coffee lovers can sip their favorite drinks from Starbucks’ limited-edition Valentine’s Day cold cups and tumblers, available for a short time at U.S. locations.
Starbucks Teased Its New Spring Menu
Last week, the coffee giant teased its new spring menu, just in time for warmer weather.
The company will introduce a new menu item, the Iced Cherry Chai, for the season. Starbucks’ Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha and Iced Lavender Oatmilk Latte will also be back on the menu for spring.
“Lavender is the perfect flavor to transition us from the winter season into spring,” Starbucks Beverage Developer Patrick Penny said in a 2024 press release when announcing the debut of the lavender drinks. “Its soft sweetness, light floral notes, and beautiful color ignite feelings of rejuvenation and awakening associated with the change of seasons.”
“When creating the new Iced Lavender Cream Oatmilk Matcha, we wanted to capture the uplifting energy of spring in a cup,” Penny continued. “The vibrant green matcha topped with lavender-hued cold foam delivers a delightfully colorful and unexpectedly delicious flavor combination.”
The new and returning items will join the menu sometime in March.
