Starbucks Is Releasing New Dairy-Free Creamers Inspired by Popular Drinks

December 12, 2024

Starbucks is releasing new creamers inspired by two popular drinks. The coffee giant is giving customers the opportunity to recreate some of its most popular drinks from the comfort of their homes. Let’s take a look at what we know about these new products.

Starbucks’ New Products

Parade reports that on Dec. 9, Instagram food blogger Markie Devo gave his devoted followers a preview of what’s soon coming in supermarkets.

“Starbucks has new Non-Dairy Oatmilk Creamer in two flavors coming soon,” he wrote in the caption of the announcement.

According to the influencer, the first flavor, Lavender Vanilla, is modeled after the Lavender Latte, while the second, Brown Sugar Cinnamon, is evocative of the Brown Sugar Shaken Espresso. The creamers have begun to appear on “grocery sites and on order forms for major stores” despite the lack of an official launch date.

These creamers are dairy-free, meaning those who follow a vegetarian or vegan diet can enjoy the products without interfering with their regimen. “Imagine telling someone in the 90s that in 2024 we’d milk the oats and add flowers to our coffee,” Devo said in his caption. The creamers are also good for those who are lactose intolerant.

Fans, however, couldn’t wait to take a piece of Starbucks home with them. “OMFG I’M SOOOOO EXCITED!!!!!! The oat milk lavender iced latte was my fave drink this last year!!! I was hoping they’d bring it back, so this is just as good!!” wrote one commenter.

“I’ll take the brown sugar! And they’d probably think we were crazy,” wrote another.

But not everyone was happy about the offerings. Some people were complaining about the new products, as one wrote, “Why does it have to be OATMILK?! Do they have a regular lavender??”

Other Customer Favorites Return

The new dairy-free creamers aren’t the only Starbucks favorites soon to be available for devoted fans. In 2025, the coffee shop plans to reintroduce its well-liked coffee condiment bar. During the COVID-19 outbreak, this essential Starbucks component was taken out of establishments.

“[We’re] bringing back the coffee condiment bar so you can get your brewed cup of coffee and go ahead and doctor it up how you want,” CEO Brian Niccol told Good Morning America. “You’ll see us continue to push towards how do we make it easier for you to get your coffee, get the drink you want? And then also simplify the execution for our baristas and partners to give the customers the experience they want.”

After the condiment station was removed, baristas had to personalize customers’ drinks. As a result, production slowed, especially if a drink wasn’t prepared according to the customer’s request.

Additionally, Niccol is considering reducing the number of specialty drinks infrequently purchased at Starbucks. “We’ve got a lot of offerings that there’s just one or two of these ordered a day,” he shared. “The way I talk about it is, we’re going to do fewer things, but we’re going to do fewer things better.”

Niccol stated in early November that baristas would once more use Sharpies to write notes on customers’ cups. This practice was also dropped during the COVID-19 pandemic to streamline processes.

In the same interview announcing the condiment bar’s return, Niccol lauded what some outlets have dubbed the “30-second rule.”

“I think what you’re going to see is a very orderly mobile order business with its own dedicated pickup area,” he said of his vision for what Starbucks will look like in five years. “You’re going to have an experience where when you walk in and you interact with the barista, it’s going to be really quick for that brewed cup of coffee. My hope is we can get you a brewed cup of coffee in less than 30 seconds.”
