Starbucks Is Giving Out Free Coffee To Help With Your Super Bowl Hangover

February 8, 2025

Starbucks knows that its customers will be stumbling into work, shaking off the hangover from the Super Bowl, so they’re offering free coffee for patrons to help dry them out.

The Today Show reports that on Feb. 10 — which is the Monday after the Super Bowl — Starbucks will offer complimentary post-game coffees. Rewards members in the United States can get a free tall 12-ounce hot or iced brewed coffee anytime on that day.

Rewards members just need to apply the Starbucks Monday coupon in the app before placing an order when utilizing the order-ahead function or inform the barista that they are redeeming the discount while ordering in-store or through the drive-thru.

Non-members can take advantage of the promotion by signing up for Starbucks Rewards by 11:59 p.m. PT on February 9th. A Starbucks Monday coupon will appear in their app. Customers who miss the deadline can still enjoy a free coffee on February 10 by asking their barista.

Starbucks Previously Said That It Was Implementing a Turnaround Plan

In recent months, the coffee giant has been faltering in terms of both offerings and profits. However, the company recently announced its turnaround plan to right the proverbial ship.

According to Business Insider, the company’s turnaround strategies, which aim to reverse declining sales and traffic, appear to be working, at least partially. Revenue stayed unchanged compared to the previous year, coming in at $9.4 billion, which was some good news in an otherwise bleak market.

According to the company’s quarterly release, same-store sales fell 4% in the United States and 6% in China, Starbucks’ second-largest region. Furthermore, the company’s net income fell by almost 23% to $780 million from $1 billion a year before. The company attributed the decline to higher wages and benefits for front-line employees, and eliminating the practice of charging a premium for nondairy products.

While the company’s last earnings call was a mixed bag of good and bad news, Starbucks CEO Brian Niccol remained optimistic about the company’s performance during his brief tenure.

“Despite near-term challenges, we have significant strengths and a clear plan,” Niccol said during the earnings call. “We’re on track to turn the business around. We’re where we want to be one quarter in, but much of our work is just beginning.”
