States looking into Amazon’s treatment of marketplace sellers

California and Washington are investigating Amazon.com’s treatment of third-party sellers on the e-tailing giant’s marketplace. The investigations by the two states mirror a call made last month by the U.S. House of Representatives Judiciary Committee, which has asked Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos to testify about allegations that the company uses data gleaned from marketplace sellers to launch its own private label products.
