Subway Unveils New Global Restaurant Design: ‘Fresh Forward 2.0’

November 13, 2024

Fast-food chain restaurant Subway has unveiled a new global restaurant design.

Called “Fresh Forward 2.0,” the new design will make its global debut in 2025. A press release states that this updated interior will enhance guests’ experiences and drive franchise profitability.

Fresh Forward 2.0 piggybacks on the first Fresh Forward design in 2017. Since that overhaul, over 20,000 Subway restaurants worldwide have remodeled or built new locations in Subway’s modern image.

These modernized eateries helped to grow sales and reenergize franchisees and their teams, according to the press release. “Fresh Forward 2.0, builds on that foundation, with added brand personality and vibrant décor elements, including bold wall graphics, localized messages and signage, elevated lighting, and warmer wood tones, as well as better support of Subway’s growing digital sales channels,” the release states.

Mike Kehoe, Subway’s global chief development officer, stated, “When Subway first launched Fresh Forward, it was more than just a remodel — it was a complete refresh and a competitive necessity for attracting guests and building pride among our restaurant teams. Fresh Forward 2.0 is an exciting evolution of the design, ensuring we continue to future proof our business and deliver on our brand promises of experience and convenience for both our guests and franchisees.”

How Will ‘Fresh Forward 2.0’ Bring More Customers to Subway?

According to the press release, Subway’s redesign has been tested across all regions. This refresh has received “overwhelmingly positive feedback” from not only customers but also franchise owners and their employees. This redesign has reportedly increased customer desire to eat in and visit their local Subway restaurants more frequently to enjoy their handcrafted sandwiches.

Fresh Forward 2.0 will drive more customers to Subway by giving consumers a freshened-up ambiance that’s more in line with modern restaurant styling. The new design features self-serve kiosks, order-ready screens, and kitchen display systems.

These additions offer convenience for guests, streamlining their service. It also helps franchisees and their teams serve consumers more quickly and efficiently.

In the coming months, Fresh Forward 2.0 updates will be unveiled worldwide. Some of the locations that will get the modernization first are domestic and international, including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Saudi Arabia, Panama, and Australia.
