Taco Bell’s Latest Menu Items Include a Fan-Favorite ‘Crispalupa’

Taco Bell has never been afraid to experiment with bold new flavors, and its latest menu additions are no exception.

Eat This, Not That! is reporting that the Crispalupa first did a test run in Houston, Texas, back in August 2024 and quickly became a fan favorite. During the fast-food chain’s Live Más LIVE event in New York (which moved there from Los Angeles due to the wildfires earlier this year), it was announced that the Crispalupa would be a limited-time menu addition due to overwhelming fan demand.

According to the famed Instagram food account Snackolator, the Crispalupa is currently being tested in Atlanta, Georgia. The chain’s website states that the Crispalupa is “a uniquely crispy pocket stuffed with Cantina slow-roasted chicken, crisp lettuce, freshly prepared pico de gallo, spicy ranch sauce, and shredded cheddar cheese.”

Taco Bell is testing two other new dishes as well, beginning with a Cheetos-inspired burrito. The Flamin’ Hot Burrito is made of a flour tortilla with Flamin’ Hot Fritos, meat, sour cream, nacho cheese, and Flamin’ Hot Rice. It’s being tested in Oklahoma City.

The Instagram foodie account also reports that Taco Bell is testing a Cantina Chicken Crunchy Taco in Minneapolis. “A freshly fried white-corn shell loaded with slow-roasted chicken topped with Spicy Ranch sauce, lettuce, purple cabbage, shredded cheddar cheese, and pico de gallo,” they wrote.

Additionally, Caliente Cantina Chicken Nacho Fries were introduced to the menu in March and are available for $4.99 for a limited time. According to the company, the dish includes “crispy, golden-seasoned fries topped with slow-roasted chicken, nacho cheese sauce, fiesta strips, and a kick of our signature Caliente Sauce.”

Taco Bell Recently Released the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas

Taco Bell’s Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas have a crispy, cheese-toasted shell blended with the powerful flavors of onions and cilantro. To add to the thrill, the new Chile Lime Crema Sauce has a spicy, creamy taste, delivering a one-of-a-kind flavor experience.

This latest innovation combines two previous fan favorites — the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa from 2019 and the Cheesy Street Chalupas from 2024 — to provide a new spin on classic favorites. The chapupas contain:

  • Toasted Cheesy Shell: A chalupa shell with a layer of mild cheddar baked directly into the dough and toasted to perfection for a crispy, cheesy, and savory bite.
  • Premium ingredients: Packed with fresh onions and cilantro — an ode to the street taco — and a choice of slow-roasted Cantina chicken or grilled, marinated steak.
  • Saucy surprise: Chile Lime Crema Sauce — a bold and zesty fusion of lime, fiery chile peppers, garlic, parmesan, and Romano cheeses.
