Taco Bell Gets in on the Street Taco Craze With Toasted Cheddar Chalupas

Taco Bell is embracing the street taco trend with its latest menu addition, the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa. This bold new offering is expected to draw customers in, particularly those eager to experience its crispy, cheesy twist on a classic favorite.

According to a press release, Taco Bell’s Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas feature a crispy, cheese-toasted shell infused with the bold flavors of onions and cilantro. Adding to the excitement, the new Chile Lime Crema Sauce adds a zesty, creamy kick, creating a unique flavor experience.

This latest creation blends two past fan favorites — the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa from 2019 and the Cheesy Street Chalupas from 2024 — offering a fresh twist on familiar favorites. Here’s how it all comes together.

• Toasted Cheesy Shell: A chalupa shell with a layer of mild cheddar baked directly into the dough and toasted to perfection for a crispy, cheesy, and savory bite.
• Premium ingredients: Packed with fresh onions and cilantro — an ode to the street taco — and a choice of slow-roasted Cantina chicken or grilled, marinated steak.
• Saucy surprise: Chile Lime Crema Sauce — a bold and zesty fusion of lime, fiery chile peppers, garlic, parmesan, and Romano cheeses.

“The street taco is a cultural staple built on bold flavor and quality ingredients, and the Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas honors that tradition while bringing in a unique Taco Bell touch that packs even more flavor into every bite,” said Luis Restrepo, Taco Bell’s vice president of Product Innovation. “Fans immediately fell in love with the crispy, cheesy bite of the Toasted Cheddar Chalupa in 2019, and now we’re elevating that street-inspired flavor experience, and that’s exactly the kind of comeback our fans have been waiting for.”

Taco Bell’s Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas are now available nationwide for $5.49 (a la carte) starting March 27, and are offered for a limited time, while supplies last.

Taco Bell’s Mexican-inspired Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas are the focal point of the eatery’s new Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas Discovery Luxe Box. For $9, this includes a value-packed meal including:

• Two Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas (choice of Cantina Chicken or Steak).
• One Nacho Cheese Doritos® Locos Tacos.
• One Crunchy Taco.
• Cinnamon Twists.
• Medium Fountain Drink.

Also, in April, Taco Bell customers can save on other popular menu items by utilizing their Taco Bell app.

• By utilizing their Taco Bell Rewards, members can get one Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupa for just $1 on Apr. 15.
• On Apr. 4 through Apr. 10, customers who buy Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas via the Taco Bell app will receive 10% off a future app order.
• From Apr. 11 through Apr. 13, customers will get one free order of Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas with a $20+ order from Uber Eats or Grubhub. On those same days, customers who order in the Taco Bell app will see a $0 delivery fee with a $25+ order.
• From Apr. 17 through Apr. 19, Taco Bell offers a free Toasted Cheddar Street Chalupas order with a $20+ order from DoorDash.
