Taco Bell’s Clever ‘Listing’ of NFL Star Davante Adams’ Home Is a Hit. Here’s Why
October 18, 2024
Taco Bell got involved in the latest NFL trade of former Las Vegas Raiders star Davante Adams to the New York Jets. The fast-food giant’s social media post proved that organic engagement with customers is a hit. Here’s why it worked.
Taco Bell Jokingly Posted a Listing of Adams’ Home
ESPN is reporting that the drama started on Tuesday, Oct. 15, when the wide receiver was acquired by the New York Jets in a transaction that brought him back to play with quarterback and former teammate, Aaron Rodgers.
The action raised concerns about whether the alliance can help the Jets win a Super Bowl. But some were worried about an off-field issue: What was going on with the Taco Bell in Adams’ residence in Las Vegas?
Adams, who the Raiders acquired in 2022, has made several appearances in advertisements for the popular fast-food chain. One of the long-running ads features a customized Taco Bell restaurant that he opened in his house in Las Vegas. The quick-service restaurant chain humorously listed the wide receiver’s Las Vegas residence for sale on Opendoor after learning that he is relocating to New York.

The property comes with “a fully functioning Taco Bell, fire sauce packets will come in every drawer,” according to the listing description. “Todd,” the worker who starred alongside Adams in the advertisements, also apparently comes with the house.
Adams visited the Irvine, California, headquarters of the fast-food chain during the Raiders’ previous season’s bye week. “Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory is definitely a way to describe it,” he said at the time. “They got some scientists in there figuring out the best way to do different things.”
Clever Advertising for New Menu Items
Taco Bell has been undergoing several clever advertising campaigns of late, including the advertisement of new menu items for possible nationwide inclusion.
As of Sept. 26, USA Today reports that the Mexican-inspired fast-food company has started testing out two new items: the Strawberry Passionfruit Aguas Refrescas in Charlotte, North Carolina, and the Caliente Cantina Chicken Burrito in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Included in the chain’s freshly unveiled Cantina Chicken Menu, the $5.99 burrito has a new hot sauce dubbed Caliente Sauce that combines red pepper, red jalapeño pepper, and ghost chili pepper. In an attempt to cash in on the nation’s love of chicken, Taco Bell debuted a new menu in March that included burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and a Cantina Chicken Bowl. The menu expanded nationwide.
Residents of Charlotte, meanwhile, can purchase the Strawberry Passionfruit Aguas Refrescas, a 20-ounce cup of green tea blended with dehydrated strawberry chunks, for $3.99. In April, Taco Bell began testing Agua Refrescas with fruit infusions at a Southern California restaurant. Peach Mango and Dragonfruit Berry are the two varieties that are offered there.
Additionally, Taco Bell said that the Big Cheez-It Menu, which is only offered for a short time, has returned.
With the June national launch of the Big Cheez-It, consumers demanded more taste. In order to do this, Kellanova and the enormous fast-food chain are bringing back the Big Cheez-It novelty and adding even more cheese to the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme.
Fans can get their hands on the much-loved Big Cheez-It Tostada, an improved Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme that comes with an extra Big Cheez-It cracker inside, and an a la carte Big Cheez-It cracker.
Taco Bell’s decision to revive the Big Cheez-It on a national scale demonstrates its dedication to customer feedback. In response to customers’ comments, the Big Cheez-It Cracker and enhanced Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme are designed to completely satiate fans’ cheez-y appetites.
