Target Hiring 100K Seasonal Staff Members for Holidays

Target plans to hire 100,000 seasonal staff members for the holidays. This will help expedite customer service and ensure all customers have a pleasant experience.

According to a Target corporate fact sheet, the company currently employs 400,000-plus team members. The addition of an extra 100,000 will help “deliver an exceptional guest experience.”

“We look forward to welcoming seasonal hires to Team Target, enabling us to continue building the best team in retail. Many seasonal team members — including more than half of last year’s — are offered an opportunity to stay with Target following the holiday season and continue spreading everyday joy to our guests year-round,” the fact sheet stated.

Target continues to invest in its employees with “market-leading pay and benefits and flexible scheduling options to meet their personal, financial, and career goals.” These goals can be accomplished by offering current team members opportunities to work extra hours throughout the holiday season and leveraging what the company calls their On Demand team.

This group of highly engaged team members can pick up shifts as desired. However, the additional team members will not only be in the stores but also in the company’s supply chain facilities.

Per the fact sheet, Target stores will hire for roles including guest advocate, front-of-store attendant, fulfillment expert, general merchandising expert, food and beverage expert, and style consultant. These team members will create a welcoming experience for guests, answer their questions, stock products, scan and bag items, and support guest services such as Order Pickup and Drive-up. As for warehouse operational jobs, these workers will be on the frontline of getting products to guests and stores as quickly as possible, creating greater ease for guests and fellow team members.

Seasonal team members have a starting wage of $15 to $24 per hour, health and well-being benefits, opportunities for growth and development, flexible schedules, and discounts on merchandise.
