Thanksgiving 2024: Which Restaurants Are Open & Which Are Closed

November 25, 2024

Thanksgiving is a time to celebrate the joys of family, togetherness, and the spirit of giving. Some people, however, will not be celebrating the holiday this year for a myriad of reasons — and others just don’t feel like cooking. So, if you’re not in the mood to deal with crazy relatives or a sink full of filthy dishes, you can get your dinner at a restaurant. But which restaurants are open and which are closed this holiday season?

McDonald’s, Starbucks, Dunkin’, & More

Starbucks openings vary by location, and Thanksgiving hours can be found on its website. The same, too, goes for Dunkin’ locations, whose hours can also be found on its website. While most McDonald’s locations are open for the holidays, all Chick-fil-A locations will be closed.

Wendy’s, however, is one of the few restaurants that will be open without fail for Thanksgiving Day. A spokesperson for the fast-food giant told USA Today that all locations are “open and ready to serve fans throughout the holiday season.” All Cracker Barrel locations, too, will be open for business on Turkey Day.

As for Burger King, Subway, IHOP, and Taco Bell, hours vary by location, and some locations are completely closed for Thanksgiving Day. Hardee’s, Outback Steakhouse, Bonefish Grill, Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Texas Roadhouse, Red Lobster, Chil’s, First Watch, and Carl’s Jr. fans, however, will have to wait for Black Friday to get their fix, as all locations will be closed.

But if you’re looking for a different kind of Thanksgiving dinner, you may want to consider your local Domino’s, Hooters, and Whataburger locations, as they may be open for the holiday.

Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade

Regardless of how folks choose to celebrate the holiday season, one thing will be for certain: the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade will take place on Nov. 28.

Attendees along the parade route and at home will be able to enjoy the joy of the season with character balloons, floats, musical performances, and the presence of Santa Claus and Mrs. Claus at the cherished event’s 98th edition. More than 5,000 volunteers, 17 featured character balloons, 22 floats, 15 heritage and novelty balloons, 700 clowns, 11 marching bands, and 10 performance groups will all be present at the parade.

This year’s 98th Macy’s Parade will create awe with unforgettable character balloons, one-of-a-kind floats, and the world-class entertainment only Macy’s can deliver.”

The list of celebrities scheduled to appear includes Charli D’Amelio and ballet dancers Tiler Peck and Roman Mejia, as well as Jonathan Bennett, Liza Colón-Zayas, Tom Kenny, Ginna Claire Mason, members of WNBA Champions, New York Liberty, and The Rockettes. Broadway performances include the casts of “Death Becomes Her,” “Hell’s Kitchen,” and “The Outsiders.”
