To catch self-checkout scammers, look for a lot of carrots

A report by The Independent in the UK found that shoppers got away with as much as $4 million in goods at self-checkouts by scanning more expensive items as carrots. The practice has apparently become so commonplace that many consumers have come to believe it’s not a crime.

Waffle House workers in Conyers, Georgia, are now on their third day of striking over what they call the company’s unfair policies.
