Trader Joe’s Expands Premium Beef Selection at Affordable Prices
February 27, 2025
Trader Joe’s has always offered a diverse selection of high-quality meats, ranging from grass-fed beef and organic chicken to unique marinated options. Now, the grocer is expanding its budget-friendly prices further, introducing a premium beef selection curated so all customers can afford the delicious meat items.
According to Food & Wine, the food retailer has introduced three new premium cuts of meat: filet mignon, ribeye, and New York strip steaks, all of which were featured in the grocery chain’s Fearless Flyer ad. According to the ad, Trader Joe’s is currently focusing on pasture-raised Angus beef.
Trader Joe’s filet mignon is Angus beef and priced at $20.99 per pound, per Allrecipes. Filet mignon is a top-tier cut of meat and is priced slightly lower than most supermarkets. While this may not be an everyday meal, filet mignon is great for a special occasion or dinner for two.
The supermarket is also offering ribeye steaks. These are retailing for $14.99 per pound.
Finally, Trader Joe’s added 100% Angus New York strip to its lower-priced premium meat offerings. They retail for $13.99 per pound.
Trader Joe’s carefully curated selection of meats caters to both quality-conscious and budget-savvy shoppers. The retailer focuses on providing high-quality options without the premium price tag, and its selection typically includes antibiotic-free poultry, wild-caught seafood, and unique pre-seasoned choices that make meal prep quick and convenient.
Trader Joe’s Continues To Put Customers First
As part of Trader Joe’s commitment to put its customers first, the supermarket chain has found ways to ensure all shoppers have a stress-free experience. Most recently, the company has taken a step forward in combating the egg shortage that has impacted its competitors.
To ensure all customers have access to fresh, inexpensive eggs, the grocer has found a way to keep egg prices down. When other retailers are selling a carton of eggs for $4 or more, Trader Joe’s price point is just $3.49.
Trader Joe’s keeps egg prices down because it buys directly from suppliers. According to CNBC Make It, this results in smaller product selection and the reliance on private-label goods to “avoid brand markups and control costs.”
“At Trader Joe’s we work hard every day to provide our customers outstanding value in the form of the best quality products at the best everyday prices,” spokesperson Nakia Rohde said in a statement to TODAY. “We only change our prices when our costs change.”
