U.S. economy added more jobs than expected in December

The U.S. economy added 223,000 jobs in December, according to a report from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The jobs numbers exceeded the 200,000 gains expected by economists. Average hourly earnings increased by 4.6 percent over 2022.
