U.S. retail sales jumped nearly 18 percent from April to May

U.S. retail sales jumped by a record 17.7 percent from April to May as stores previously closed due to the coronavirus pandemic began reopening in states across the U.S. and people began going back to work. Retail sales account for roughly half of all consumer spending in America.
