Unemployment claims fall to a five-month low

First-time claims for unemployment insurance in the week ended Sept. 24 fell by 16,000 to 193,000, the lowest level since April, according to data released by the Labor Department. Continuing claims fell to 1.35 million for the week ended Sept. 17, a historically low number.
