Unemployment rate drops as Americans go back to work

The national unemployment rate fell to 5.8 percent in May, down from 6.1 percent in April. The economy added 559,000 jobs as states began easing pandemic-related restrictions and widespread distribution of COVID-19 vaccines led to a drop in cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
