Vinyl record sales are outpacing CDs for the first time in decades

About 41 million vinyl albums were sold in 2022, according to the Recording Industry Association of America, compared to 33 million compact discs. That marks the first year that vinyl outsold CDs since 1987. Vinyl record revenues rose 17 percent in 2022, the sixteenth year of increases.
