Walmart Deals Event to Compete With Amazon Prime Day

June 26, 2024

Walmart has announced a deals event that will rival and debut ahead of Amazon Prime Day.

Walmart Deals will feature deep discounts on thousands of items for back-to-school, tech, toys, outdoor, travel, and other categories. Beginning Monday, July 8, at 5 p.m. EST through Thursday, July 11, at 11:59 p.m. ET, customers can shop thousands of deals and save hundreds of dollars. Walmart+ members will have early access to shop the hottest deals of the season beginning at noon EST on July 8, allowing them to browse and buy to their heart’s content five hours before anyone else.

This event follows Walmart+ Week, which ended on June 23. Members enjoyed increased fuel savings and Walmart Cash on travel bookings through Walmart+ Travel.

According to CNN, unlike Prime Day, this Walmart sales event will be open to all shoppers, not just those with a paid membership. Prime Day caters to those who purchase an Amazon Prime membership.

While shopping, Walmart customers can also take advantage of the company’s pickup and delivery options. The store allows for early to late pickup, delivery, and personal shoppers who can have an order ready to go shortly after its placed.

On the heels of Walmart’s Deals Days, Amazon Prime Day, the e-commerce site’s biggest shopping day of the year, will begin July 16 and run through until the 17th. Prime members will get exclusive access to millions of great deals on top-selling brands.

On Prime Day, new deals will be made available as often as every five minutes during select periods so members can shop frequently. The site is also bringing back invite-only deals, and Prime members can request an invitation to exclusive deals that typically sell out.

“Prime Day is a celebration of the value we bring to members all year long, and features millions of deals across more than 35 product categories as well as discounts on Amazon devices, quality entertainment, groceries, travel, and more during the event,” said Jamil Ghani, vice president of Amazon Prime.

“In fact, over the course of last year, Amazon customers saved nearly $24 billion from deals and coupons—with Prime members enjoying the vast majority of those savings—including over $2.5 billion during Prime Day 2023.”
