Walmart Updates Virtual Store Walmart Realm for the Holiday Season

Walmart has updated its virtual store Walmart Realm for the holiday season after successfully launching the interactive shopping experience for the back-to-school season.

According to Retail Dive, Walmart has added four new virtual shops for the holidays. Each virtual room has a theme. The holiday motifs include a mountain chalet, a holiday party, the white elephant game, and “the sweetest gifts.”

As consumers click around the website, different items available for purchase are visible, including their price points. These are curated via viral trends seen on social media outlets such as TikTok and Pinterest.

The interactive shopping experience allows customers to find items they might not have considered for gift-giving. The shops are tailored to all ages and prices.

Each virtual space features AR-enabled items. This allows customers to see what the items look like at home. Plus, Walmart Realm debuted a Wish List that allows shoppers to share their lists with others.

Walmart Realm remains a one-stop shop. Not only are its Christmas-themed rooms a great way to find the perfect gift, but its dorm room decor remains live for parents and students who may have needs for a January 2025 move-in date. Consumers can continue to browse virtual 3D environments and purchase products for school from the comfort of their homes.

On top of the three original themes from Walmart Realm, the dorm room decor comes in five different styles: Royal, Sanrio, Serene Retreat, Y2K, and LoFi. Each style has decor that completes an entire look to create any student’s dream dorm room. Along with home goods, there are also everyday beauty and fashion essentials suggested by some of today’s top influencers, including Mai Pham, Nava Rose, Makenzie, and Malia Fowler.

The site has two tabs: shops and discover. The shops are part of an immersive world where products can be viewed. In the discover tab, shoppers can purchase items they are interested in.

Walmart Realm is a way for the retail giant to showcase deals that could attract shoppers who typically do not shop at Walmart. Tying together aesthetically pleasing items with great deals is a way to entice new shoppers into the store and retain those who typically spend their hard-earned cash there.
