‘Wicked’ Stanley Cups Sell Out at Target

October 14, 2024

Target has another winning Stanley collaboration on its hands. Two cups representing the lead characters of the feature film “Wicked” have been released by the retailer, and they’re already sold out online and causing shoppers to go crazy in stores.

On Oct. 13, 2024, Elphaba and Glinda-inspired pink and green Stanley Quencher Tumblers available in 40-ounce and 20-ounce sizes debuted online and on store shelves. Similar to the company’s Valentine’s Day launch, the drinkware sold out almost instantly online, as some consumers complained about on Reddit, and many stores likely saw the same result.

A TikTok video showed how wild Target shoppers went once the cups were put on store shelves. A clip shows shoppers scrambling to secure the highly sought-after 40-ounce and 20-ounce Stanley x Wicked H2.0 FlowState Quencher Tumblers, with the TikToker noting someone had tried to take a cup from her child’s hand.

The sleek stainless steel design, combined with the popular “Wicked” theme, has made the release one of the most hyped drops of the year. The cups retail for $35 for the 20-ounce and $55 for the 40-ounce tumblers.

However, if shoppers didn’t make it to Target to grab whatever’s on shelves, there was a chance to order them online. Currently, the pink and green tumblers are out of stock in both sizes. Online, some resellers are already charging double the price for the coveted items.

Are There Any Other ‘Wicked’ Items Available at Target?

According to a Target press release, there will be plenty of items sold in conjunction with the November 2024 release of “Wicked.” Target will offer more than 150 movie-inspired products in most stores and online.

Nearly 70% of the items will only be available at Target. These items include an apparel and accessories line created by the film’s costume designer Paul Tazewell, Mattel’s Elphaba Singing Doll & Fiyero Fashion Doll, and a special version of the soundtrack on vinyl, to name a few.

Jill Sando, executive vice president and chief merchandising officer of apparel and accessories, home, and hardlines at Target, said, “Like so many people, the Target team can’t wait for ‘Wicked’ to hit theaters, and we have everything you need to embrace your inner Elphaba or Glinda. When it comes to big cultural moments like this, there’s no place like Target. With a captivating shopping experience and the largest assortment of retailer-exclusive products, this is Target at our best and I’m so excited for families to celebrate ‘Wicked’ with us.”

Dropping on Nov. 3, 2024, is Mattel’s Fiyero Fashion Doll. Also available will be a line of “Wicked” candles, body mists, and shower and bath gels, as well as a Fisher-Price Little People Collector 4-pack and Funko Pop! collectibles of Elphaba and Glinda.

Target will also feature Cynthia Erivo, who stars in the film as Elphaba, in a national marketing campaign kicking off Oct. 20. It will include TV spots and social content.
