WWE’s Monday Night Raw Powerslams Into Netflix

January 23, 2024

WWE, part of TKO Group Holdings, Inc., has marked a striking development in the field of entertainment. It has entered into a long-term partnership with Netflix. This collaboration signals a significant change in broadcast dynamics. WWE’s flagship weekly program, Monday Night Raw, will depart from regular television for the first time in its 31-year history.

Starting in January 2025, Netflix will become the exclusive platform for streaming Raw in locations like the U.S., Canada, the U.K., and Latin America. As the agreement evolves, other regions will be included as well. So, WWE enthusiasts around the globe will surely have reason to rejoice. Netflix will also host all other WWE programs and specials outside the U.S., as available. This brings a range of shows, like SmackDown and NXT, and marquee events, such as WrestleMania, SummerSlam, and Royal Rumble, under the Netflix banner.

To sweeten the deal, WWE’s award-winning documentaries, original series, and forthcoming projects will also become available worldwide on Netflix come 2025.

TKO President and COO Mark Shapiro terms this groundbreaking deal as transformational. He believes it combines the irresistible appeal of WWE with the extensive global audience of Netflix. This partnership not only reshapes the media landscape but also drastically broadens WWE’s reach. It brings the excitement of live weekly entertainment to Netflix.

Netflix’s Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria shares this excitement as the platform welcomes WWE’s Raw — a show known for its passionate multi-generational fan base. By merging Netflix’s omnipresence with WWE’s fandom, the platform aims to enhance joy and value for all its members.

Adding to the enthusiasm, WWE President Nick Khan finds Netflix’s excellent storytelling capabilities an ideal fit for Raw’s live, loyal, and ever-expanding fan base.

With over 1,600 episodes, Raw has stood as an icon in sports entertainment since its 1993 debut. It has a history of delivering thrilling action, riveting drama, and exceptional athleticism throughout the year. The three-hour weekly show has launched the careers of numerous stars, including Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, Triple H, John Cena, Roman Reigns, Bianca Belair, and Charlotte Flair.

Raw, currently the top show on USA Network, amasses 17.5 million unique viewers annually. It consistently trends on social media, and WWE’s platforms enjoy over a billion followers. The partnership ushers in a new era for WWE and Netflix, creating a unique blend of sports and entertainment like never before.
