Home Depot connects increase in store thefts to opioid crisis

In a meeting with investors and analysts yesterday, Home Depot executives said the chain has seen an increase in store thefts in 2019. “It is driven by, in large part, by organized retail crime that has expanded rapidly in this country,” said Craig Menear, chairman and CEO of the home improvement retailer. “We have a hypothesis that this has ties to the opioid crisis.”
