American Airlines now accepts non-binary gender designations

American Airlines follows United in giving passengers the option to provide a non-binary gender selection when booking flights online and over the phone. When asked, customers can simply say “U” for undisclosed or “X” for unspecified. “Taking care of our customers and team members is what we do,” a company statement reads, “and we are glad to be able to better accommodate the gender preferences of our travelers and team members.”
