AnnElizabeth Konkel, an economist for Indeed, says that the number of people filing for unemployment is down from April when the coronavirus pandemic hit hard in the U.S. “If you’re comparing to the pre-COVID era they are still so high,” she said. “We’re losing steam, which is definitely not good heading into the winter.”
